The Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation (GLEDC) and the Economic Development Corporation Michigan City, Indiana (EDCMC) in partnership with the Cities of Michigan City and La Porte and the Michigan City and La Porte Chambers of Commerce will host the “Made in La Porte County” Products Showcase. The event will be held on Friday, September 27 from 9 am to 3 pm at the La Porte Civic Auditorium. The public is invited to attend, and admission is free.
This special event will allow numerous local firms to display and “showcase” their products that are manufactured, assembled or distributed from right here in La Porte County. It will provide an opportunity for local citizens and visitors to view the interesting products first hand, all at one location. Products big and small will be on display.
“This event will truly illustrate that manufacturing is alive and growing here in La Porte County, and it’s often not the manufacturing that we remember; it’s technical, innovative, cutting-edge industries,” states La Porte Mayor Blair Milo. The event will also provide an opportunity for local businesses to interface with one another on a “business to business” basis.
Another great feature of the event will be the opportunity for high school and college students throughout the county to get acquainted with the local industries, their products, career opportunities and required skills. “ This event is so critical for our students to be introduced to our companies and learn what types of education and training they would need to pursue a career with one of them,” said Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer.
Mayors Milo and Meer and local manufacturers will participate in the day’s special events. A special ceremony will be held at 1 pm with T-shirt giveaways.
