The Tryon Meadow sneak peek event showcased the new residential community and the initial single-family home offerings.
The workforce housing community is mixing townhomes, single-family homes and rentals on 39 acres with frontage on Tryon Road between Royal and Karwick. The development is in the infrastructure stage with ground-breaking expected in the summer.
Michigan City Mayor Angie Nelson Deuitch said the $43 million investment brings many types of housing to Michigan City.
“It is so exciting and this is really a preview of what is to come. Some of our biggest dreams are starting to come true … things talked about years ago are starting to happen,” she said. “This is the first project funded in the Region by the Northwest Indiana Regional Growth Fund alongside Horizon Bank.
“We want to make sure Michigan City is a place where you want to live, work and thrive.”
Plans include 34 single-family homes, 56 townhomes and 128 rental homes.
Single-family home options revealed: The Briar, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2-car garage; The Aster, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2-car garage; The Juniper, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 2-car garage; and The Hawthorn, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 2-car garage with 2,570 square foot loft.
