MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. – The Economic Development Corporation Michigan City is connecting to additional resources and further assets with the election of Clarence L Hulse to the Mid-America EDC board.
EDCMC’s executive director will serve on the Mid-America Economic Development Council, which brings together top-tier leaders in the industry from all of the states in the Mid-America region: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on a regional board with my peers here in the Midwest,” Hulse said. “Having access to innovation and ideas from such a wide range of minds in the economic development arena will help us create change and tackle challenges here in our communities.”
The Mid-America EDC brings together leaders twice a year. The Best Practices Conference is planned for May 2021. This event is continually a time to network and review best practices and trends. The Competitiveness Conference and Site Selector Forum is planned for December 2021. Attendees focus on business retention and relocation and are able to connect with site selection consultants.
“Especially during these volatile times, it is vital to continue to work together on creative avenues to bolster our communities and plant these ideas here in Northwest Indiana,” Hulse said.
Hulse also sees the role as a way to illuminate the EDCMC’s mission and accomplishments.
“Our private nonprofit continues to have a unique role in our region’s economic development today and tomorrow by bringing together private and public sectors,” he said. “We are honored to be part of a larger stage to showcase all that we do and collect ideas to do even more.”
