The Economic Development Corporation Michigan City (EDCMC) hosted its 2016 Business Investment & Anniversary Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 19th, 2016 at the Blue Chip Casino Hotel & Spa in Michigan City. The dinner event, which is held every two years, recognized local companies that have made substantial investments in their business during 2015 and 2016, as well as, honored businesses who are celebrating special anniversaries of operating in Michigan City in 2016 and 2017.
The event is part of EDCMC’s ongoing business retention efforts which helps support and retain existing businesses and acknowledge their new investments in the community. Simultaneously, the event also recognizes new companies who have located to Michigan City and made new investments. “The EDCMC is both grateful and proud that these companies continue to believe in Michigan City. We look forward to working with them for many years to come and their future investment in our community”, said Clarence Hulse.
A crowd of near 200 attended the celebration representing elected officials, business, not for profit organizations and education. EDCMC regularly partners with these local entities as it works toward developing the community as a great place to live, work and play. Companies receiving Business Investment Awards included: Central States Manufacturing, Inc., Chicago Faucets a Geberit Company, CVG Sprague Devices, LLC, Dekker Vacuum Technologies, Inc., Franciscan St. Anthony Health – Michigan City, KTR Corporation, Lindos/LaPaloma Restaurant, Michigan City Paperbox, St. Andrews Products, Vermillion Development, and Zorn Holding, LLC.
Companies achieving special anniversaries are: 10 years – R&E Pallets; 20 years – Central States Manufacturing, Impreglon, Inc.; 25 years – Sound Technologies; 40 years – Chicago Faucets a Geberit Company, Sager Metal Strip Company, LLC, TEACO; 50 years – PUBCO Incorporated; 60 years – Jet Fabricators, Prinova Solutions, Sanlo, Inc.; 70 years – Guardian Couplings, Woodruff & Sons, Inc.; and 75 years – CVG Sprague Devices, LLC.

The keynote speaker was Emerson Spartz, Founder & CEO of DOSE, the Chicago-based company behind DOSE & OMG Facts, one of the world’s fastest growing digital media companies.
