Economic Development Corporation Michigan City, Indiana (EDCMC) is happy to announce Katie Eaton as its new Economic Development Manager.  Eaton was recently added to the team at EDCMC at the beginning of July to provide continued focus on the Business Retention and Expansion program, community partnerships, and Workforce Development initiatives. “With so many new projects and local initiatives that EDCMC is a part of, I am happy to have Katie on board to assist and I am excited for the experience she brings to the organization,” said Clarence Hulse, Executive Director of EDCMC.

Eaton brings with her several years of management experience and business development.  During her time with Junior Achievement La Porte County, Eaton worked with local communities, schools, and businesses to fundraise, manage volunteers, and build new program offerings.  Most recently, Eaton’s work at Center of Workforce Innovations, as part of their business services team, led her to work with numerous regional employers in assisting with their workforce needs, marketing for job openings, and organizing job fairs.

As a lifelong resident in the Michigan City area, Eaton also brings with her a passion for this growing and vibrant community.  “I am very excited for the opportunity to give back, through my work, to the community that has given me and my family so much” Eaton stated.  Eaton lives in the Michigan City area with her husband Jeff and their three children who attend Michigan City Area Schools.

Eaton is a graduate of Michigan City Area Schools and attended local Purdue University North Central where she graduated with a degree in English and Communication.  In May of 2015, Eaton obtained her Master’s in Business Administration from the same university.  Having a passion for education, Eaton has served a member of the Purdue Alumni Association for three years and was most recently voted as President for the newly formed Purdue Northwest Alumni Organization. Previously, Eaton has volunteered for Junior Achievement, served on the Purdue Northwest Unification Committee, served on the board for NWI Leaders, is a graduate of Leadership LaPorte County, and board member of Coolspring Community Association.
