The Michigan City Start-up Business Grant Program is launching to support entrepreneurship and bolster the economy by providing new businesses with initial or expansion expenses.

“The grants are available for a range of business-related expenses,” said EDCMC Executive Director Clarence Hulse. “We hope the program cultivates an entrepreneurial mindset and innovation here in Michigan City.”

Michigan City business owners with fewer than 25 employees operating since at least Jan. 1, 2024, are invited to apply for grants from $500 to $5,000.

Applications are available as a PDF to download, print and complete or as an online application. They are being accepted on a rolling basis through the end of 2026.

A committee will review grant applications based on need, readiness, project feasibility, community benefit and economic impact. Grant funds can be used for equipment and tools, technology improvements, marketing and promotion, inventory and product development, and professional services.

Program funding is through the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund, administered by the Economic Development Corporation of Michigan City in partnership with the City of Michigan City.
