A summer camp returns to spark an entrepreneurial mindset and guide youth toward a small business ownership path.

The BuddingPreneurs Summer Camp will explore all aspects of entrepreneurship for two age groups beginning in June and July. Youth ages 7 to 13 will get together from June 22 to July 3 and teens ages 14 to 17 will get together from July 13 to 24. Campers will meet from 8 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday at the BuddingPreneurs Center, 1919 U.S. Highway 12.

BuddingPreneurs founder Antonio Conley believes exposure to entrepreneurship is a gateway to build confidence, skills and positivity.

“I hope camp participants are connected to an environment that helps them succeed and opens their minds to the possibilities of accomplishing whatever you put your mind to,” Conley said. “Our community needs to ensure our youth are given exposure to resources to work toward their goals.”

The Youth Entrepreneurship Summer Camp centers around the Economic Development Corporation Michigan City and City of Michigan City’s Vibrant Michigan City initiative.

“Introducing our younger community members to the idea of entrepreneurship is essential to the next generation of business owners,” said EDCMC Executive Director Clarence L. Hulse. “The camp can be a conduit to greater future opportunities and essential life skills.”

The camp utilizes activities, conversations, field trips, resources and tools to showcase the process of turning ideas into real businesses as well as provides lessons in money management. There will be a Kids Shark Tank, Teen Business Expo, Youth Marketplace and awards and certificates.

There is no cost for the camp and youth wanting to participate should register here.
