The Association of Equipment Manufacturers bus tour made a pit stop in Michigan City!
The “I Make America” national grassroots campaign traveled around the country to highlight how the manufacturing industry impacts our economy, work force, communities and beyond.
The tour only made two stops in Indiana, including at Sullivan Palatek, which has been headquartered in Michigan City since 2008. Attendees were able to tour the facility to see how the company manufactures different types of air compressors as well as rotors.
There are more than 170 residents employed by Sullivan Palatek in a range of positions.
“I can’t say enough good things about Michigan City. It’s an air compressor hub,” said Bruce McFee of Sullivan Palatek. “It’s a great manufacturing city, a great tourist city and has great hospitality. It’s been a nice place to have a business.”
Twenty-four students from the Michigan City High School’s Air Compressor Academy had the opportunity to be part of the event. The Academy is the only one in the nation to focus on workforce development of a local industry.
