The Marquette Mall property is on the verge of entering its next chapter.
Marquette Mall, which opened in 1967, was one of the first air-conditioned malls in the state. In addition to its poplar anchors, the mall housed a
seven-story office tower that was state of the art. Nineteen years ago, Moshe Shemian and partners purchased Marquette Mall with the intention of developing it into a viable centerpiece property.
Over the years some progress took place yet nothing came of the original dream and revitalization until recently when Moshe Shemian saw his own
vision: to buy out his partners and proceed forward beginning a new dream for Michigan City.
Shemian is now working in collaboration with the city of Michigan City, EDCMC team and community leaders to push the mall property into an innovative Town Center.
Shemian, is looking to “proceed forward beginning a new dream for Michigan City,” according to a news release. He’s looking to develop a new town center “that will bring jobs and energy back to Michigan City.”
